And construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are [to be] drowned."

The explanation of the word of Allah the Exalted: وَاصْنَعِ الْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا وَلا تُخَاطِبْنِي فِي الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا إِنَّهُمْ مُغْرَقُونَ ("And build the ship under Our eyes and by Our revelation, and do not address Me concerning those who have done wrong — they shall be drowned.") (37)
Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah the Exalted says: And He revealed to him that none of your people will believe except those who have already believed, and that you should build the ship — and that is the vessel, as:
18127 — Al-Muthanná related to me, saying: Abū Ḥudhayfa related to us, saying: Shibl related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid: The ship (al-fulk) is the vessel (al-safīna).
And His word: ("under Our eyes") — He says: with the eye of Allah and His revelation, as He commands you, as:
18127 — Muḥammad ibn Saʿd related to me, saying: my father related to me, saying: my uncle related to me, saying: my father related to me on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās concerning the word: ("And build the ship under Our eyes and by Our revelation") — that was because he did not know how to build a ship. So Allah revealed to him that he should build it according to the model of the breast of a bird.
18128 — Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid: ("and by Our revelation"), he said: as We command you.
18129 — Al-Muthanná related to me, saying: Abū Ḥudhayfa related to us, saying: Shibl related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid; and al-Muthanná related to me, saying: Isḥāq related to us, saying: ʿAbdallāh related to us, on the authority of Warqāʾ, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid: ("under Our eyes and by Our revelation"), as We command you.
18130 — Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: Al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of ʿAṭāʾ al-Khurāsānī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās: ("And build the ship under Our eyes and by Our revelation"), he said: with the eye of Allah. Ibn Jurayj said: Mujāhid said: ("and by Our revelation"), he said: as We command you.
18131 — Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of Qatāda concerning the word: ("under Our eyes and by Our revelation"), he said: with the eye of Allah and His revelation.
And His word: ("and do not address Me concerning those who have done wrong — they shall be drowned") — Allah the Exalted says: And do not implore Me for mercy for those of your people who have wronged themselves by their disbelief in Allah — by which they have brought their own ruin through drowning upon themselves. They shall be drowned by the flood, as:
18132 — Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: Al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj: ("and do not address Me"), he said: He says: and do not speak to Me any more. He said: He had been commanded beforehand not to intercede for them.
