وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ

And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Indeed, I am to you a clear warner

    The explanation of the word of Allah the Exalted: وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَى قَوْمِهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ (And We had certainly sent Noah to his people: 'Indeed, I am to you a clear warner') (25)

    Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah the Exalted says: We sent Noah to his people with the message: 'I am for you, O people, a warner from Allah. I warn you against His punishment because of your disbelief in Him. So believe in Him and obey His command.'

    By His word (mubīn) He means: he who makes clear to you that with which he was sent to you, namely the command of Allah and His prohibition.

    The Qurʾān reciters differed concerning the reading of the word (innī).

    The majority of the reciters of Kūfa and some of those of Medina read it with kasra under the 'inn' (as an opening sentence), because the word 'sending' contains within it the meaning of 'saying'.

    Some reciters of Medina, Kūfa, and Baṣra read it with fatḥa under the 'an', whereby the verb 'arsalnā' governs it. The meaning of the sentence is then: We sent Noah to his people with the announcement that I am for you a clear warner.

    Abū Jaʿfar said: The correct reading on this matter is, in my view, that they are two readings with equal meaning. Both have been read by groups of reciters, and whichever of the two a reciter chooses, he is correct.

    القول في تأويل قوله تعالى : وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَى قَوْمِهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ (25) قال أبو جعفر: يقول تعالى ذكره: ولقد أرسلنا نوحًا إلى قومه : إني لكم ، أيها القوم ، نذير من الله، أنذركم بأسَه على كفركم به، فآمنوا به وأطيعوا أمره. ويعني بقوله: (مبين) ، يبين لكم عما أرسل به إليكم من أمر الله ونهيه. (12) * * * واختلفت القرأة في قراءة قوله: (إني) . فقرأ ذلك عامة قرأة الكوفة وبعض المدنيين بكسر " إنّ" على وجه الابتداء إذ كان في " الإرسال " معنى " القول ". * * * وقرأ ذلك بعض قرأة أهل المدينة والكوفة والبصرة بفتح " أن " على إعمال الإرسال فيها، كأن معنى الكلام عندهم: لقد أرسلنا نوحًا إلى قومه بأني لكم نذير مبين. * * * قال أبو جعفر: والصواب من القول في ذلك عندي، أن يقال إنهما قراءتان متفقتا المعنى، قد قرأ بكل واحدة منهما جماعة من القرّاء، فبأيتهما قرأ القارئ كان مصيبًا للصواب في ذلك. --------------------- الهوامش : (12) انظر تفسير " نذير " و " مبين " فيما سلف من فهارس اللغة ( نذر ) ، ( بين ) .
