   The explanation of the word of Allah the Exalted: فَلَعَلَّكَ تَارِكٌ بَعْضَ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ وَضَائِقٌ بِهِ صَدْرُكَ أَنْ يَقُولُوا لَوْلا أُنـزلَ عَلَيْهِ كَنـز أَوْ جَاءَ مَعَهُ مَلَكٌ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ نَذِيرٌ وَاللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ (12)

   (Perhaps you intend to leave aside a part of what is revealed to you, and your breast feels constricted thereby, because they say: "If only a treasure had been sent down to him, or an angel had come with him." You are only a warner, and Allah is over all things a Wakīl.)

   Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah the Exalted here says to His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: Perhaps you, O Muhammad, intend to leave aside a part of what your Lord reveals to you — and which you have been commanded to convey to the people — and not convey it; and your breast feels constricted by what is revealed to you, so that you do not convey it to them, out of fear that they will say: "If only a treasure had been sent down to him, or an angel had come with him" — one who would confirm him as a messenger of Allah.

   Allah the Exalted then says: Convey to them that which I have revealed to you, for you are only a warner who warns them against My punishment, and who guards them against My severity on account of their disbelief (kufr) in Me. As for the signs which they demand of you: these are with Me and are under My authority. I send them down when I will. Upon you rests nothing other than the conveyance and the warning. وَاللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ — that is to say: Allah is the Disposer over all things, in whose hand lies the management of them. So carry out that which I have commanded you, and do not let their request for signs hold you back from conveying My revelation to them and following My command.

   Similar statements to this effect have also been made by some of the expositors of the tafsīr.

   18007 — Al-Qāsim related to us, he said: al-Ḥusayn related to us, he said: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Mujāhid, who said: Allah said to His Prophet: "Perhaps you intend to leave aside a part of what is revealed to you" — that is to say: to do regarding it what you have been commanded, and to call to it as you have been sent. They said: "If only a treasure had been sent down to him" — we see no possessions with him; where is the money? "Or an angel had come with him" — who would warn together with him? إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ نَذِيرٌ — "So convey what you have been commanded."

   القول في تأويل قوله تعالى : فَلَعَلَّكَ تَارِكٌ بَعْضَ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ وَضَائِقٌ بِهِ صَدْرُكَ أَنْ يَقُولُوا لَوْلا أُنـزلَ عَلَيْهِ كَنـز أَوْ جَاءَ مَعَهُ مَلَكٌ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ نَذِيرٌ وَاللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ (12) قال أبو جعفر: يقول تعالى ذكره لنبيه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم: فلعلك يا محمد ، تارك بعض ما يوحي إليك ربك أن تبلغه من أمرك بتبليغه ذلك، وضائقٌ بما يوحى إليك صدرُك فلا تبلغه إياهم ، مخافة (أن يقولوا لولا أنـزل عليه كنـز أو جاء معه ملك) ، له مصدّق بأنه لله رسول ! يقول تعالى ذكره: فبلغهم ما أوحيته إليك، فإنك إنما أنت نذير تُنْذرهم عقابي ، وتحذرهم بأسي على كفرهم بي، وإنما الآيات التي يسألونكها عندي وفي سلطاني ، أنـزلها إذا شئت، وليس عليك ، إلا البلاغ والإنذار ، (والله على كل شيء وكيل) ، يقول: والله القيم بكل شيء وبيده تدبيره، فانفذ لما أمرتك به، ولا تمنعك مسألتهم إياك الآيات، من تبليغهم وحيي والنفوذ لأمري. (44) * * * وبنحو الذي قلنا في ذلك قال بعض أهل التأويل. *ذكر من قال ذلك: 18007- حدثنا القاسم قال ، حدثنا الحسين قال، حدثني حجاج، عن ابن جريج، عن مجاهد قال: قال الله لِنبيه: فلعلك تارك بعض ما يوحى إليك أن تفعل فيه ما أمرت ، وتدعو إليه كما أرسلت. قالوا: (لولا أنـزل عليه كنـز) ، لا نرى معه مالا أين المال؟ ، (أو جاء معه ملك)، ينذر معه؟ ، (إنما أنت نذير)، فبلغ ما أمرت. -------------------------- الهوامش : (44) انظر تفسير ألفاظ هذه الآية فيما سلف من فهارس اللغة .
