The discussion of the interpretation of the word of Allah, the Exalted: وَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا قَوْمِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ آمَنْتُمْ بِاللَّهِ فَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلُوا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُسْلِمِينَ (84)
(And Moses said: "O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him, if you are submitters.")
Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah, exalted be His remembrance, says, conveying the words that His prophet Moses spoke to his people: "O my people, if you have acknowledged the oneness of Allah and affirmed His Lordship — then put your trust in Him — that is to say: place your trust in Him, and submit to His command, for He will never forsake His ally, and He will never abandon the one who places his trust in Him — if you are submitters — that is to say: if you are obediently submissive to Allah, then place your trust in Him."

See the interpretation of "tawakkul" (trust in Allah) earlier, p. 147, note 5, and the sources mentioned there.
In the printed edition it reads "wayuslimu" ("and he abandons"); in the manuscript it reads "walam yuslimu" ("and he has not abandoned"); the correct reading is what has been established above.
See the interpretation of "islām" in the linguistic lexicons mentioned earlier (root: s-l-m).
