Indeed, those who do not expect the meeting with Us and are satisfied with the life of this world and feel secure therein and those who are heedless of Our signs

The exposition of the interpretation of the word of Allah, the Exalted: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا وَرَضُوا بِالْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاطْمَأَنُّوا بِهَا وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنْ آيَاتِنَا غَافِلُونَ (Indeed, those who do not expect the meeting with Us and are content with the worldly life and find rest therein, and those who are heedless of Our signs.) (10:7)
Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah, the Exalted, says: Indeed, those who do not fear the meeting with Us on the Day of Resurrection — thereby denying the reward and the punishment, vying for the adornments and allurements of the world, content with it as a substitute for the Hereafter, and finding themselves therein in rest and tranquility — and those who are heedless (ghāfilūn) of the signs of Allah — that is to say: His proofs of His Oneness and His arguments against His servants, concerning the sincerity of worship to Him alone — they turn away from them and occupy themselves with them carelessly; they do not reflect upon them as one who sincerely advises himself would do, so that through those signs they might come to know the truth of that to which those signs guide them, and so that they might recognize, by means of those signs, the falsity of that to which they cling.
