يَتِيمًۭا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ

    And His statement: يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ("an orphan who is a relative") means: or, on a day of famine, he feeds a small child who has no father, from among his kin, and that is the orphan who is a relative. And by "who is a relative" (dhā maqraba) is meant: one who is of his blood relations (dhā qarāba).

    As Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His word: يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ("an orphan who is a relative"), he said: one who is a blood relation.

    وقوله: ( يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ) يقول: أو أطعم في يوم مجاعة صغيرًا لا أب له من قرابته، وهو اليتيم ذو المقرَبة؛ وعُنِي بذي المقربة: ذا القرابة. كما حدثني يونس، قال: أخبرنا ابن وهب، قال: قال ابن زيد في قوله: ( يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ) قال: ذَا قرابة.
