فَقالَ ("Then he said") to them: أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الأعْلَى ("I am your most high lord"), who is above every other lord. And thus the fool lied.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes of the Qurʾān (ahl al-taʾwīl) have explained it.
* Mention of who said that:
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said, concerning His statement: فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَى ("Then he gathered and called out"); he said: he shouted and gathered his people, and called out among them. When they had assembled, he said: أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الأَعْلَى ("I am your most high lord") فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الآخِرَةِ وَالأُولَى ("So Allah seized him with the punishment of the later and the former") (79:24-25).
