Tafseer of The Announcement · An-Naba · 78:20

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا

And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

    And His words: (And the mountains are set in motion and become a mirage) — He says: And the mountains are blown apart and torn out by their very roots from their foundations, and so changed into scattered dust, in the eyes of whoever looks on, like the mirage (as-sarāb) which whoever sees it from afar supposes to be water, while in reality it is dust.

    وقوله: ( وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا ) يقول: ونُسفت الجبال فاجتثت من أصولها، فصيرت هباء منبثا، لعين الناظر، كالسراب الذي يظنّ من يراه من بُعد ماء، وهو في الحقيقة هباء.
