The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: indeed, those who feared the punishment of Allah by fulfilling His obligations (farāʾiḍ) in this world and avoiding disobedience to Him, dwell فِي ظِلالٍ ("in shades") — sheltering shades, and a protecting cover, in which no harm of heat nor of cold befalls them — whereas the disbelievers in Allah dwell in a shade with three plumes, which is not protecting and avails nothing against the flame — وَعُيُونٍ ("and springs") — rivers that flow between the trees of their gardens.
