And the winds that blow violently

His word: فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا ("and by the storm-winds that blow violently"). He — exalted is His praise — says: and by the violently storming winds, that is to say: the winds that blow fiercely and pass by swiftly.
And in agreement with what we have said about that spoke the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl).

Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Al-Muḥāribī related to us, on the authority of al-Masʿūdī, on the authority of Salama ibn Kuhayl, on the authority of Abū l-ʿUbaydayn, that he asked ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd and said: What are "al-ʿāṣifāt ʿaṣfan"? He said: The wind.
Khallād ibn Aslam related to us, saying: Al-Naḍr ibn Shumayl informed us, saying: Al-Masʿūdī informed us, on the authority of Salama ibn Kuhayl, on the authority of Abū l-ʿUbaydayn, on the authority of ʿAbd Allāh, the same.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Salama ibn Kuhayl, on the authority of Muslim al-Baṭīn, on the authority of Abū l-ʿUbaydayn, he said: I asked ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd — and he mentioned the same.
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Wakīʿ related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Salama ibn Kuhayl, on the authority of Muslim al-Baṭīn, on the authority of Abū l-ʿUbaydayn, he said: I asked ʿAbd Allāh — and he mentioned the same.
Mohammed ibn Saʿd related to me, saying: My father related to me, saying: My uncle related to me, saying: My father related to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا , he said: The wind.
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Wakīʿ related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, the same.
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Jābir ibn Nūḥ related to us, on the authority of Ismāʿīl, on the authority of Abū Ṣāliḥ: فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا , he said: They are the winds.
ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Bayān related to us, saying: Mohammed ibn Yazīd informed us, on the authority of Ismāʿīl, he said: I asked Abū Ṣāliḥ about His word: فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا , he said: They are the winds.
Mohammed ibn al-Muthannā related to us, saying: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muʿādh related to us, saying: My father related to me, on the authority of Shuʿba, on the authority of Ismāʿīl al-Suddī, on the authority of Abū Ṣāliḥ, the companion of al-Kalbī, concerning His word: فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا , he said: They are the winds.
Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd al-Jawharī related to us, saying: Abū Muʿāwiya al-Ḍarīr and Saʿīd ibn Mohammed related to us, on the authority of Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid, on the authority of Abū Ṣāliḥ, concerning His word: فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا , he said: It is the wind.
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Wakīʿ related to us, on the authority of Ismāʿīl, on the authority of Abū Ṣāliḥ, the same.
He said: Wakīʿ related to us, on the authority of Isrāʾīl, on the authority of Simāk, on the authority of Khālid ibn ʿUrʿura, on the authority of ʿAlī — may Allah be pleased with him —: فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا , he said: The wind.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His word: فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا , he said: The winds.
Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of Qatāda, the same.
