كَلَّا وَٱلْقَمَرِ

No! By the moon

    The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, means by His word كَلا (Nay): the matter is not as the one says who claims that the guardians of Hell (jahannam) will not suffice to protect his polytheistic companions (mushrikīn), until they drive them away from it. Then our Lord, the Exalted, swore an oath and said: وَالْقَمَرِ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ (By the moon, and by the night when it departs), He says: and by the night when it turns away and goes off.

    And in accordance with what we have said concerning this, the interpreters of the Qurʾān (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.
