His saying: قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ (Arise and warn). The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: Arise from your sleep and warn your people, who have assigned associates to Allah (shirk) and have worshipped others besides Him, of the punishment (ʿadhāb) of Allah.

And in accordance with what we have said regarding this, the interpreters of the Qurʾān (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

    * Mention of who said that:

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ (Arise and warn): that is, warn of the punishment of Allah and His retributions upon the nations, and of the severity of His vengeance.
