Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation.

And His statement: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — the Exalted and Mighty says: and make the Qurʾān clear when you recite it, with a clear clarification, and recite it calmly, in a calm manner.
And in agreement with what we have said concerning this, the exegetes spoke.

Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm related to me, saying: Ibn ʿUlayya related to us, saying: Abū Rajāʾ related to us, on the authority of al-Ḥasan, concerning His statement: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — he said: recite it with a clear recitation.
Ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to us, saying: Sufyān related to us, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — and he said: one part of it after the other.
Mohammed ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Makhzūmī related to us, saying: Jaʿfar ibn ʿAwn related to us, saying: Sufyān informed us, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — and he said: one part of it after the other, with deliberation.
Mohammed ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning the statement of Allah: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — he said: recite it calmly, in a calm manner.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Mujāhid: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — and he said: one part of it after the other.
Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyā ibn Abī Zāʾida related to me, saying: Ḥajjāj ibn Mohammed related to us, saying: Ibn Jurayj said, on the authority of ʿAṭāʾ: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — he said: careful recitation (tartīl) is the setting forth: the casting out.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — he said: make it clear with a clarification.
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Wakīʿ related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Laylā, on the authority of al-Ḥakam, on the authority of Miqsam, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās: (and recite the Qurʾān carefully, in a careful recitation) — he said: make it clear with a clarification.
