وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ

And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord -

    And His word: وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمْ مُشْفِقُونَ ("And those who are apprehensive of the punishment of their Lord") — he says: and those who, in this worldly life, fear the punishment of their Lord, apprehensive that He will punish them in the Hereafter, so that out of fear of that they neglect none of His obligations, and transgress no limit (ḥadd) set by Him.

    وقوله: (وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِمْ مُشْفِقُونَ ) يقول: والذين هم في الدنيا من عذاب ربهم وجلون أن يعذبهم في الآخرة، فهم من خشية ذلك لا يضيعون له فرضا، ولا يتعدّون له حدّا.
