They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children

His words: وَلا يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ("And no bosom friend will ask after a bosom friend, though they are made to see one another"). He, exalted is His mention, says: and no close relative will ask his close relative about his condition, because he is preoccupied with his own condition.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His words: وَلا يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا ("And no bosom friend will ask after a bosom friend"): every person is preoccupied with himself, away from the people.
