Tafseer of The Heights · Al-A'raaf · 7:87

And if there should be a group among you who has believed in that with which I have been sent and a group that has not believed, then be patient until Allah judges between us. And He is the best of judges."

The explanation of His saying, exalted is His mention: (87) ("And if a group among you has believed in that with which I have been sent, and another group has not believed, then be patient until Allah judges between us, and He is the best of judges." (7:87))

Abū Jaʿfar said: He means by His saying, exalted is His mention: ( وإن كان طائفة منكم ) — "and if a group among you," that is to say: if a community and a faction among you — ( آمنوا ) — "has believed," he says: have affirmed ( بالذي أرسلت به ) — "that with which I have been sent," namely the sincere devotion of worship to Allah, the abandonment of disobedience toward Him, of dealing unjustly with the people, and of defrauding them in measures and weights, and have followed me in that — ( وطائفة لم يؤمنوا ) — "and another group has not believed," he says: and another community has not affirmed that, and has not followed me in it — ( فاصبروا حتى يحكم الله بيننا ) — "then be patient until Allah judges between us," he says: then wait until the decisive verdict of Allah which distinguishes between us and you — ( وهو خير الحاكمين ) — "and He is the best of judges," he says: and Allah is the best of those who distinguish and the most just of those who judge, for in His judgment there occurs no inclination toward anyone, nor any favoring of anyone.
