But the ones who deny Our verses and are arrogant toward them - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.

The explanation of His word: وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا عَنْهَا أُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ (36)
(And those who denied Our signs and were too arrogant toward them, those are the inhabitants of the Fire; therein they will abide eternally) (7:36).
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: As for him who denied the sending of My messengers, whom I sent to him, and who rejected My oneness, and who was unbelieving in that with which My messengers came, and who showed himself too arrogant to hold My proofs (ḥujaj) and My indications to be true — فَأُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ (those are the inhabitants of the Fire; therein they will abide eternally). He says: they abide in the Fire of Hell (jahannam), and they will never come out of it.
