Indeed, my protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book; and He is an ally to the righteous.

The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: إِنَّ وَلِيِّيَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي نَـزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى الصَّالِحِينَ (196) (Verily, my protector (walī) is Allah, Who has sent down the Book, and He is the Protector of the righteous.) (196)
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: Say, O Muḥammad, to the polytheists (mushrikīn) among the worshippers of the idols: = "Verily, my protector," my helper and my support and my backing against you = (is Allah, Who has sent down the Book) upon me with the truth, and it is He Who takes charge of those of His creatures who act righteously by obeying Him.
