Then do you see of them any remains?

His statement: فَهَلْ تَرَى لَهُمْ مِنْ بَاقِيَةٍ ("Do you then see any remnant of them?"). He, exalted is His mention, says to His prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: Do you then see, O Muḥammad, any continued existence for ʿĀd, the people of Hūd? And it has been said: by this is meant: Do you then see anyone of them who remains? And some of the experts of Arabic among the [grammarians of] Basra said: its meaning is: Do you then see for them any remnant? And he said: its mode of expression is the same mode of expression as that of "al-ṭāghiya" as a verbal noun (maṣdar).
