His statement: أَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ("Or do they possess the unseen, so that they write it down?"). He says: Do they possess the well-guarded Tablet (al-lawḥ al-maḥfūẓ), in which is recorded the tidings of what is to come into being, so that they copy out from it what is in it, and thereby contend against you, and claim that they—despite their disbelief in their Lord—hold a higher rank with Allah than the people who believe in Him?
