When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

And His word: ( إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ — "when Our verses are recited to him, he says: fables of the ancients"). He says: when the verses of Our Book are recited to him, he says: this belongs to what the ancients wrote down — in mockery of it and out of his denial that this could be from Allah.
