Tafseer of The Pleading Woman · Al-Mujaadila · 58:9
O you who have believed, when you converse privately, do not converse about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger but converse about righteousness and piety. And fear Allah, to whom you will be gathered.

The explanation of the words of the Exalted: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا تَنَاجَيْتُمْ فَلا تَتَنَاجَوْا بِالإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَمَعْصِيَةِ الرَّسُولِ وَتَنَاجَوْا بِالْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ (O you who believe, when you confer secretly, then do not confer about sin, enmity, and disobedience to the Messenger, but confer about piety and God-fearingness, and fear Allah, to Whom you shall be gathered) (9).
The Exalted, Whose praise is exalted, says: O you who hold Allah and His Messenger to be truthful, إِذَا تَنَاجَيْتُمْ (when you confer secretly) among yourselves, فَلا تَتَنَاجَوْا بِالإثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَمَعْصِيَةِ الرَّسُولِ (then do not confer about sin, enmity, and disobedience to the Messenger), but rather وَتَنَاجَوْا بِالْبِرِّ (confer about piety), that is: about obedience to Allah and that which brings you nearer to Him, وَالتَّقْوَى (and God-fearingness) — He says: and about fearing Him by fulfilling the obligations He has imposed upon you and avoiding disobedience to Him. وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ (and fear Allah, to Whom you shall be gathered) — He says: and fear Allah, to Whom is your destination and with Whom your gathering takes place, so that He may not punish you, upon your return to Him, for neglecting His prescribed obligations and persisting in disobedience to Him.
