Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

His statement: tarjiʿūnahā in kuntum ṣādiqīn ("do you not then bring it back, if you are truthful?"). He says: do you not, after those souls have reached the throats, bring them back to their dwelling-place in the bodies, if you are truthful — if you are able to withdraw yourselves from death, the reckoning, and the requital? The apodosis of His statement fa-law-lā idhā balaghati al-ḥulqūm ("why then not, when it reaches the throat") and the apodosis of His statement fa-law-lā in kuntum ghayra madīnīn ("why then not, if you are not to be called to account") are one and the same apodosis, namely His statement tarjiʿūnahā ("do you bring it back"). That is comparable to His statement fa-immā yaʾtiyannakum minnī hudan fa-man tabiʿa hudāya fa-lā khawfun ʿalayhim ("and when there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My guidance, there shall be no fear upon them"), in which the apodosis of the two conditions was made into a single apodosis.
And in accordance with what we have said concerning His statement tarjiʿūnahā, the scholars of exegesis have spoken.
