Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

أَأَنْتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ ("Is it you who cause it to grow as a crop, or are We the producers of it?") means: is it you who make it into a crop, or are We the ones who make it so?
And Aḥmad ibn al-Walīd al-Qurashī has already related to me, saying: Muslim ibn Abī Muslim al-Ḥaramī related to us, saying: Makhlad ibn al-Ḥusayn related to us, on the authority of Hāshim, on the authority of Muḥammad, on the authority of Abū Hurayra, who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not say: 'I have caused to grow' (zaraʿtu), but say: 'I have sown/ploughed' (ḥarathtu)." Abū Hurayra said: have you not heard the word of Allah: أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تَحْرُثُونَ * أَأَنْتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ ("Have you then seen what you sow? Is it you who cause it to grow as a crop, or are We the producers of it?").
