Tafseer of The Inevitable · Al-Waaqia · 56:61
In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

And His word: (that We might bring in your stead the likes of you) — He says: that We, after your perishing, may set others in your place who are like you, and thus bring forth others of your kind.
And His word: (and bring you into being in a state that you do not know) — He says: and We change you from what you know of yourselves into forms that you do not know of yourselves.
And in agreement with what we have said concerning this, the exegetes have spoken.

Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word: (and bring you into being) he said: in whatever creation We will.
