And His statement: تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ (Blessed be the Name of your Lord). The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: blessed be the mention of your Lord, O Muḥammad; ذِي الْجَلالِ (the Possessor of majesty): that is, the Possessor of greatness; وَالإكْرَامِ (and of honor): that is to say: and He to whom honor is due on account of His entire creation.
As ʿAlī related to me, saying: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās concerning his statement: ذِي الْجَلالِ وَالإكْرَامِ (the Possessor of majesty and honor). He says: the Possessor of greatness and exaltedness.
