Tafseer of The Moon · Al-Qamar · 54:6

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍۢ نُّكُرٍ

So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding,

    The explanation of His saying — exalted is His mention: فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ يَدْعُو الدَّاعِي إِلَى شَيْءٍ نُكُرٍ ("So turn away from them on the Day when the caller calls to something terrible") (54:6).

    The Exalted — exalted is His mention — means by His saying فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ("So turn away from them"): Turn away, O Muḥammad, from these polytheists (mushrikīn) among your people who, when they see a sign, turn away and say: "It is continuous sorcery." For they will, on the Day when the caller of Allah calls to the standing-place of the Resurrection — and that is the terrible thing — [be seized].

    القول في تأويل قوله تعالى : فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ يَدْعُو الدَّاعِي إِلَى شَيْءٍ نُكُرٍ (6) يعني تعالى ذكره بقوله ( فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ) : فأعرض يا محمد عن هؤلاء المشركين من قومك, الذين إن يروا آية يعرضوا ويقولوا: سِحْر مستمرّ, فإنهم يوم يدعو داعي الله إلى موقف القيامة, وذلك هو الشيء النُّكُر.
