The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلا مَجْنُونٍ (52:29) ("So remind, for by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor one possessed") (52:29).

The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: Remind, O Muḥammad, those to whom I have sent you, from your people and others, and exhort them with the favors of Allah which they enjoy. فَمَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلا مَجْنُونٍ ("For by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor one possessed"). He says: By the grace of Allah toward you, you are neither a soothsayer (kāhin) who practices soothsaying, nor one possessed who has a jinn-companion (riʾyy) that whispers to him, so that he conveys to his people what it has inspired in him. Rather, you are the Messenger of Allah, and Allah does not forsake you, but He helps you and grants you victory.
