The explanation of the words of the Exalted: وَالطُّورِ (By the Mount (1))
The Exalted, whose praise is mentioned, means by His words وَالطُّورِ : by the mountain that is called al-Ṭūr.
I have already explained the meaning of al-Ṭūr with its supporting evidences, and we have previously mentioned the disagreement of those who differed about it, in a manner that makes it unnecessary to repeat it here.
And Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me; he said: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us; he said: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me; he said: al-Ḥasan related to us; he said: Warqāʾ related to us — both of them — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning the words of Allah, glorified and exalted is He: وَالطُّورِ : he said: the mountain, in Syriac.
