His statement يَسْأَلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الدِّينِ (they ask: when is the Day of Judgment?) means — the Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: These fabricators of lies, whom He has described with their description, ask: when is the day of recompense and reckoning, and the day on which Allah will recompense the servants according to their deeds?
As Yūnus related to us, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Ibn Zayd said concerning His statement أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الدِّينِ (when is the Day of Judgment?), he said: Those who denied that they would be recompensed or resurrected.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, he said: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, he said: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, he said: al-Ḥasan related to us, he said: Warqāʾ related to us, all on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, his statement concerning يَسْأَلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الدِّينِ (they ask: when is the Day of Judgment?), he said: They say: when is the Day of Judgment, or when will the Day of Judgment be.
