But those who disbelieved and denied Our signs - they are the companions of Hellfire.

The statement concerning the explanation of His saying: En zij die ongelovig zijn en Onze tekenen voor leugen verklaren, dat zijn de bewoners van het Hellevuur (5:86). (And those who disbelieve and declare Our signs to be falsehood, those are the inhabitants of the Hellfire — al-Jaḥīm.)
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: As for those who denied the oneness of Allah, and rejected the prophethood of Muḥammad ﷺ, and declared the signs of His Book to be falsehood — they are "the inhabitants of al-Jaḥīm." He says: they are its inhabitants and those who abide therein permanently.
And "al-Jaḥīm" is that part of the Fire whose heat is intense, and it is al-Jāḥim and al-Jaḥīm.
