The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا (48:1) (Verily, We have decreed for you a clear victory.)
The Exalted, whose praise is sublime, means by His saying to His prophet Muḥammad ﷺ (إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا): Verily, We have rendered for you, O Muḥammad, a judgment that is clear to whoever hears it or to whom it is conveyed, against those who oppose you and turn against you among the unbelievers of your people; and We have decided in your favor against them with victory and triumph, so that you may be grateful to your Lord and praise Him for His favor, in that He has judged in your favor against them and opened for you what He has opened, and so that you may glorify Him and ask Him for forgiveness, so that your Lord may forgive you, on account of those deeds, for what preceded of your sins before His opening for you of what He opened, and for what followed thereafter after He had opened that for you — for which you thanked Him and for which you asked Him for forgiveness.
And we have chosen only this interpretation of this verse because of the indication of the saying of Allah, Mighty and Exalted: إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ * وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا * فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا (When the help of Allah and the victory comes, and you see the people entering the religion of Allah in throngs, then glorify the praise of your Lord and ask Him for forgiveness; verily, He is ever Accepting of repentance), as to the correctness of it, since the Exalted, whose praise is sublime, commanded him to glorify the praise of his Lord when the help of Allah and the conquest of Mecca came to him, and to ask Him for forgiveness, and He informed him that He is Accepting of repentance toward whoever does that. In that is a clear declaration that the saying of the Exalted, whose praise is sublime, [the legible text ends here].
