The explanation of the statement of the Exalted: (46:34) (And on the Day when those who disbelieved are presented before the Fire: "Is this not the truth?" They will say: "Yes indeed, by our Lord." He will say: "Then taste the punishment for what you used to disbelieve.")
The Exalted, whose renown is mentioned, says: And on the Day when these deniers of the resurrection are presented — those who denied Allah's reward to His servants for their good deeds and His punishment of them for their evil deeds — before the Fire, the fire of Hell (jahannam), it is then said to them: "Is this punishment, with which you are chastised today and which you used to deny in the worldly life, not the truth?" — as a rebuke from Allah to them for their denial of it when they were in the worldly life. (They will say: "Yes indeed, by our Lord.") He says: Then these disbelievers (kuffār) reply immediately thereupon, saying: "Yes indeed, it is the truth, by Allah." (Then taste the punishment for what you used to disbelieve.) He says: Then the One who made them acknowledge that says to them: "Then taste now the punishment of the Fire for what you denied and rejected in the worldly life, and what you refused to acknowledge when you were called to believe in it."
