Tabari

Tafseer of Ornaments of gold · Az-Zukhruf · 43:87

And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allah." So how are they deluded?

The explanation of His statement, exalted is He: (And if you ask them who created them, they will surely say: "Allah." How then are they turned away?) (87)

He, exalted is His remembrance, says: And if you, O Muḥammad ﷺ, ask these polytheists (mushrikīn) from among your people who ascribe partners to Allah: who created them? — then they will surely say: Allah created us.

(How then are they turned away?) — toward what side are they then turned away from the worship of Him who created them, and deprived of attaining the truth in His worship?
