And His statement: وَلا يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ ("And let not Satan turn you away"). He, mighty is His praise, says: and let not Satan cause you to deviate from obedience to Me in what I command you and forbid you, so that you would oppose Him in favor of another than Him, and would stray from the straight path and thereby perish. إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ ("Verily, he is to you a manifest enemy"). He says: verily, Satan is to you an enemy who invites you to that in which lies your destruction, and who turns you away from following the path, in order to lead you to the places of perdition; a manifest (enemy), who has already made his enmity clear to you through his refusal to prostrate himself before your father Ādam, and through his deception with delusion, until he caused him to be driven out of Paradise, out of envy and malice.
