And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination.

Explanation of the statement of the Exalted: Wie geduldig is en vergeeft — voorwaar, dat behoort tot de standvastige zaken (42:43)
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: And whoever patiently endures the wrong done to him, and pardons the wrongdoer for his offense against him and does not take revenge on him, while he would be capable of taking revenge on him — all of this out of seeking the Face of Allah and His abundant reward. Voorwaar, dat behoort tot de standvastige zaken — He says: that patience of his and that pardoning of the sin of the one who wronged him belongs to the steadfast matters to which He has urged His servants, and the performance of which with resolve He has enjoined upon them.
