وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَىٰ بَيْنَهُمْ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ

And those who have responded to their lord and established prayer and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend.

    And His statement: وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاةَ ("And those who responded to their Lord and established the prayer") — He, exalted is His mention, says: and those who answered their Lord when He called them to His oneness (tawḥīd), to the acknowledgment of His singularity, and to freeing themselves from the worship of all that is worshipped besides Him, وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاةَ ("and established the prayer") — the prescribed prayer (ṣalāh), according to its ordinances and at its appointed times.

    Ibn Zayd used to say: by His statement وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ ("and those who responded to their Lord") ... the verse, the Anṣār (the Helpers of Medina) are meant.

    Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said — and he recited وَالَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ ("And those who avoid the major sins and the indecencies, and who, when they become angry, forgive").

    He said: So He began with them, وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ ("and those who responded to their Lord") — the Anṣār, وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاةَ ("and established the prayer"), while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is not among them, وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَى بَيْنَهُمْ ("and their affair is mutual consultation among them"), in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is likewise not among them.

    وقوله: ( وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاةَ ) يقول تعالى ذكره: والذين أجابوا لربهم حين دعاهم إلى توحيده, والإقرار بوحدانيته والبراءة من عبادة كل ما يعبد دونه ( وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاةَ ) المفروضة بحدودها في أوقاتها. وكان ابن زيد يقول: عنى بقوله: ( وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ )... الآية الأنصار. حدثني يونس, قال: أخبرنا ابن وهب, قال: قال ابن زيد, وقرأ ( وَالَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ ) قال: فبدأ بهم ( وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ ) الأنصار ( وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاةَ ) وليس فيهم رسول الله صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم ( وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَى بَيْنَهُمْ ) ليس فيهم رسول الله صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم أيضا.
