Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant."

And His statement: ( ادْخُلُوا أَبْوَابَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ) (Enter through the gates of Hell, abiding therein eternally). The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says to them: Enter through the seven gates of Hell (jahannam); through each gate of it [there enters] an allotted portion of you. ( فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى الْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ) (and how evil is the abode of the arrogant). He says: and how evil, for the arrogant who in this world were too proud before Allah to acknowledge Him as one and today to believe in His messengers, is the abode: Hell.
