Other than Allah?" They will say, "They have departed from us; rather, we did not used to invoke previously anything." Thus does Allah put astray the disbelievers.

Allah, the Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: ( Thus does Allah let the unbelievers (kāfir) go astray ) He says: just as He has caused these to go astray — those for whom there has vanished in Hell (jahannam) that which they used to worship in the worldly life apart from Allah of gods and idols, their gods and their idols — so does Allah cause the people who are unbelieving in Him to stray away from Him, away from His mercy and His worship, so that He shows them no mercy by which He would deliver them from the Fire, and does not come to their aid so as to lighten for them what they undergo of trial.
