And His word: ( tadʿūnanī li-akfura bi-Allāhi wa-ushrika bihi mā laysa lī bihi ʿilm ) — "You call me to disbelieve in Allah and to associate partners with Him concerning which I have no knowledge." He says: and to associate idols with Allah as partners in His worship (shirk), while I do not know that it is right to worship them and to take them as partners in the worship of Allah, for Allah has not permitted me that, neither through a revelation nor through reason.
And His word: ( wa-anā adʿūkum ilā al-ʿAzīzi al-Ghaffār ) — "And I call you to the Almighty, the All-Forgiving." He says: and I call you to the worship of the Almighty (al-ʿAzīz) in His retribution against whoever disbelieves in Him — He who, when He takes vengeance upon an enemy of His, can be prevented by nothing — the All-Forgiving (al-Ghaffār) toward whoever turns to Him in repentance after his disobedience to Him, on account of His forgiveness toward him, so that nothing can harm him once He has forgiven him. He says: so worship Him whose attribute is this description, and not that in which neither harm nor benefit is to be found.
