The Day you will turn your backs fleeing; there is not for you from Allah any protector. And whoever Allah leaves astray - there is not for him any guide.

And His statement: ( the Day when you turn your backs fleeing ) — the explanation of it, according to the explanation that we have cited from the narration of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, is: "the Day when they run fleeing across the earth out of fear of the punishment of Allah and His retribution, at the moment when they behold Hell (jahannam) with their own eyes."
And the explanation of it, according to the explanation that Qatāda gave regarding the meaning of ( the Day of calling out ), is: the Day when you turn away, driven from the place of reckoning to Hell (jahannam).
And in similar wording the narration has been transmitted from him, and from whoever said something similar to him regarding the meaning of ( the Day of calling out ).
* Mention of who said that:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: ( the Day when you turn your backs fleeing ), that is to say: while you are being driven to the Fire.
And the more correct of the two statements herein is the statement that has been narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, even though what Qatāda said herein is not far removed from the truth, and a group of the scholars of exegesis also said it.
* Mention of who said that:
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both of them — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, regarding His statement: ( the Day when you turn your backs fleeing ), he said: fleeing, without being able to escape.
And His statement: ( there is for you against Allah no protector ) means: there is for you against Allah no preventer who prevents you, nor a helper who helps you.
And in agreement with what we have said about this, the scholars of exegesis have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: ( there is for you against Allah no protector ), that is to say: no helper.
And His statement: ( and whomever Allah sends astray, for him there is no guide ) means: and whomever Allah forsakes and does not guide to his right path, for him there is none who grants him success and guides him to it.
