Explanation of the saying of the Exalted: al-Yawma tujzā kullu nafsin bimā kasabat lā ẓulma al-Yawma inna Allāha sarīʿu al-ḥisāb (40:17) — "Today every soul will be recompensed for what it has earned; no injustice will there be today; truly, Allah is swift in reckoning."
The Exalted, whose praise is sublime, says — relating what He will speak on the Day of Resurrection when He raises His creatures from their graves for the station of the reckoning: ( al-Yawma tujzā kullu nafsin bimā kasabat ). He says: today every doer is recompensed according to his deed, so that the reward of his deed is paid to him in full. Whoever did good is recompensed with good, and whoever did evil is recompensed with the requital thereof.
And His word: ( lā ẓulma al-Yawma ). He says: there is for no one any diminution with respect to what is due to him as reward for his deed in this world (dunyā), such that anything would be taken away from it if he was a doer of good; nor is there loaded upon an evildoer the sin of a transgression he did not commit, such that he would be punished for it. ( inna Allāha sarīʿu al-ḥisāb ). He says: truly, Allah possesses on that day swiftness in reckoning with His servants over the deeds they performed in this world. It has been transmitted that that day has not yet reached its half before the inhabitants of the Garden (janna) are already taking their midday rest in the Garden and the inhabitants of the Fire (al-nār) in the Fire, while He has already completed their reckoning and rendered the judgment between them.
