Tafseer of The Groups · Az-Zumar · 39:40

مَن يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌۭ يُخْزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٌۭ مُّقِيمٌ

To whom will come a torment disgracing him and on whom will descend an enduring punishment."

    And His statement: ( مَنْ يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ ) ("[so that you may know] upon whom a punishment will come"). The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: upon whom there comes a punishment that disgraces him — that punishment which befalls him — that is to say: which dishonors him and reviles him ( وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٌ مُقِيمٌ ) ("and upon whom an abiding punishment will descend"). He says: and upon whom there descends an everlasting punishment that does not depart from him.

    وقوله: ( مَنْ يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ ) يقول تعالى ذكره: من يأتيه عذاب يخزيه, ما أتاه من ذلك العذاب, يعني: يذله ويهينه ( وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٌ مُقِيمٌ ) يقول: وينـزل عليه عذاب دائم لا يفارقه.
