Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower?

( أَمْ عِنْدَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ الْعَزِيزِ الْوَهَّابِ ) ("Or do they possess the storehouses of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Bestower?"): the Exalted, whose praise is proclaimed, says: or do these polytheists, who deny the revelation of Allah to Muḥammad, possess the storehouses of the mercy of your Lord — that is, the keys of the mercy of your Lord, O Muḥammad — the Almighty in His dominion, the Bestower who gives to whomever He wills of His creatures whatever He wills of kingship, dominion, and prophethood, so that they might withhold from you, O Muḥammad, that which Allah has apportioned to you of honor and with which He has favored you of messengership?
