And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver

And His word ( وَالشَّيَاطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّاءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ ) ("and the devils, every builder and diver"). The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: and We subjected the devils to him and gave him power over them, in exchange for that with which We had tried him through what We had cast of them upon his throne, so that he might employ them for whatever he wished of his works, as builder and diver. The builders among them fashioned prayer-niches and statues, and the divers brought up for him the ornaments from the seas, and others hewed out for him basins and cauldrons; and the rebellious ones (al-marada) were bound together in chains.
As Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: ( وَالشَّيَاطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّاءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ ), he said: they made for him what he wished of prayer-niches and statues, and the diver brought up the ornaments from the sea.
