Tafseer of The letter Saad · Saad · 38:25
So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return.

The discourse on the explanation of His saying, the Exalted: فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ ذَلِكَ وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِنْدَنَا لَزُلْفَى وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ (38:25) (So We forgave him that, and indeed, for him with Us is a near place and a good return.) (25)
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, means by His saying فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ ذَلِكَ (So We forgave him that): We granted him forgiveness and refrained from punishing him for his error and his sin. وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِنْدَنَا لَزُلْفَى (and indeed, for him with Us is a near place) means: and indeed, for him with Us is nearness to Us on the Day of Resurrection.
And in accordance with what we have said concerning His saying فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ ذَلِكَ (So We forgave him that), the people of interpretation have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ ذَلِكَ (So We forgave him that), namely the sin.
And His saying وَحُسْنُ مَآبٍ (and a good return) means: a return and destination to which he will return on the Day of Resurrection.
And in accordance with what we have said concerning this, the people of interpretation have spoken.

Muḥammad related to us, saying: Aḥmad related to us, saying: Asbāṭ related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī, concerning His saying وَحُسْنُ مَآبٍ (and a good return): he said: a good place of return.
