قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ

He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,

    And His word ( He said: Do you worship what you yourselves carve? ) (37:95) — by this He, exalted is His mention, says: Ibrāhīm said to his people: 'Do you worship, O people, what you carve with your own hands of idols?'

    As Bishr related to me, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: ( He said: Do you worship what you yourselves carve? ): the idols.

    وقوله ( قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ ) يقول تعالى ذكره: قال إبراهيم لقومه: أتعبدون أيها القوم ما تنحتون بأيديكم من الأصنام. كما حدثني بشر، قال: ثنا يزيد، قال: ثنا سعيد، عن قتادة ( قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ ) الأصنام.
