فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ

And had he not been of those who exalt Allah,

    Exposition of the interpretation of His statement, the Exalted: فَلَوْلا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ ("And had he not been of those who glorify [Allah]") (143)

    He, exalted be His mention, says: فَلَوْلا أَنَّهُ ("And had he not") — by this Yūnus is meant — كَانَ مِنَ ("been of those who") were among those who prayed to Allah before the trial with which he was tried, namely the punishment of being confined in the belly of the fish.

    القول في تأويل قوله تعالى : فَلَوْلا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ (143) يقول تعالى ذكره: ( فَلَوْلا أَنَّهُ ) يعني يونس ( كَانَ مِنَ ) المُصَلِّينَ لله قبل البلاء الذي ابتُلي به من العقوبة بالحبس في بطن الحوت .
