And His statement, the Exalted ( fa-lā yaḥzunka qawluhum ) "So let not their statement grieve you" — the Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: let not the statement of these who ascribe partners to Allah from your people, to you, O Muḥammad, grieve you, namely: "you are a poet, and what you have brought us is poetry"; nor their denial of the signs of Allah and their rejection of your prophethood.
And His statement ( innā naʿlamu mā yusirrūna wa-mā yuʿlinūn ) "Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they make public" — the Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: indeed, We know that what drives them to say that is envy, and they know that what you have brought them is not poetry and does not resemble poetry, and that you are not a liar. Thus We know what they conceal of their knowledge of the truth of that to which you call them, and what they make public of their rejection of it with their tongues, openly.
