The explanation of the statement of the Exalted: الَّذِينَ يُبَلِّغُونَ رِسَالاتِ اللَّهِ وَيَخْشَوْنَهُ وَلا يَخْشَوْنَ أَحَدًا إِلا اللَّهَ وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ حَسِيبًا (39) (Those who convey the messages of Allah and fear Him and fear no one except Allah. And Allah is sufficient as a Reckoner. (33:39))

The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: this is the way (sunna) of Allah among the messengers who passed away before Muḥammad, who convey the messages of Allah to those to whom they were sent, and who fear Allah regarding the neglect of conveying them to them, and who fear no one except Allah; for it is Him they dread should they fall short in conveying the message of Allah to those to whom they have been sent. He says to His prophet Muḥammad: be then among those messengers whose characteristic is this, and fear no one except Allah, for Allah will protect you against the whole of His creation, and no one of His creation can protect you against Him should He wish to bring harm upon you. And the word "those" in His statement الَّذِينَ يُبَلِّغُونَ رِسَالاتِ اللَّهِ (Those who convey the messages of Allah) stands in the genitive case (khafḍ) as a back-reference to "those" in His statement: سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ فِي الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا (The way of Allah among those who have passed away). And His statement وَكَفَى بِاللَّهِ حَسِيبًا (And Allah is sufficient as a Reckoner) — the Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: and Allah is sufficient for you, O Muḥammad, as a guardian of the deeds of His creatures and as a reckoner with them concerning that.
